Tonight's Topics

Real World Problem Solving with Azure Cognitive Services and Microsoft Flow

By Dylan Hayes
This session is aimed at those who are interested in Azure Cognitive Services and how it can be applied to solve real-world problems. Firstly what we mean by Azure Cognitive Services? And how does it relate to the long and sometimes legendary history of what has previously been termed "Artificial Intelligence"? We can then examine how cognitive services actually works, and how it is composed of distinct services that each solve particular problems. We will then do some interactive demos with audience participation of using Flow and PowerApps to integrate with services such as image recognition, sentiment analysis, content moderation and custom machine learning models and see how they cope (or not) with real-world data.

Dylan came to Office 365 by a long path that started in the interesting places that the energy industry goes before finding his way into IT, then .NET development, and then on-prem SharePoint. In his working life he spends a lot of time in front of customers helping them best use Office 365. Outside of work, he speaks at local tech events about Office 365 topics, volunteer in Scouting, and run insane distances across wild places.

Custom Connectors: Key to Unlocking the Universe

By Matt Weston MCT

This session looks at how custom connectors can help to enhance the functionality which your users have available to them in both PowerApps and Flow. We will look at how they can be created, managed and how they can also become part of the wider Microsoft offering. There are currently over 280 connectors available, with custom connectors you could unlock more functionality, or you never know, unlock the universe!

Matt has a huge passion for the technology, and for sharing his knowledge with the community, driving technology and adoption forward through his sheer enthusiasm. Quite often found “geeking out” over things like search, Matt can often become quite excitable when finding new features and technologies.

Matt is the leader of the Black Country PowerApps & Flow User Group, Office 365 & SharePoint User Group (West Midlands) and is a proud Flownaut, a super user in the Microsoft Flow Community.

Stourbridge is extremely accessible by most forms of transport.

By Road

If you are travelling by motorway, exit the M5 at Junction 4 and follow the A491 towards Stourbridge. When you reach the end of the A491, you will face an island with traffic signals, take the 4th exit (Dual Carriageway) onto the A456. Stay in your left hand lane and at the traffic lights, take the filter lane back onto the A491 towards Stourbridge. At the next island, take the 3rd exit (locals all know to get into the right hand lane for this). Follow the road to the next island, and take your first exit, driving down the hill to the Stourbridge Junction mini roundabout. Take the 3rd exit (almost coming back on yourself) and turn immediately left. The Green Duck Brewery is on your right hand side just before you reach the junction. Just look out for the green door!

By Train

The closest train station is Stourbridge Junction which is approx a 5 minute walk from the Green Duck Brewery. If  you are catching the train from Birmingham, you will need to board at Birmingham Snow Hill (10 minute dawdle from New Street). For those coming from the North West, you can change at Wolverhampton, and then again at Smethwick Galton Bridge to avoid Birmingham.

For those travelling from the South West, trains are available from Worcester Shrub Hill.
